Environmental
Projects
are working to prevent ecological destruction, protect wildlife
in its natural habitat, and promote the importance of a sacred
connection with nature. The Earths biosphere, Her life-support
systems, is the stuff out of which we humans and all life
are interwoven. In spite of the last two or three decades
of "environmentalism," our assault on the Earths
vital organsrainforests, oceans, and aircontinues
to accelerate. At current rates of destruction, we believe
that within our lifetimes, the damage to these will pass the
point of no return. Ecological ideas alone have not, and cannot,
save us from our collective insanity. Nothing less than psychological
and spiritual revolution will be of any use.
Environmental
Projects include:
Ballona
Wetlands EarthWays is
a founding member, and the original locale, for the large
environmental coalition that is attempting to halt a massive
development on LA’s last remaining wetlands. We are
currently the plaintiff’s in our second litigation action
to require proper environmental impact reports
Panacocha - an environmental
preservation project in Ecuador, is working with three other
environmental organization partners in an effort to preserve
about 200 square miles of pristine upper Amazonian rain forest.
The area has a number of endangered species including the
rare Pink River Dolphin and a myriad of bird, primate, and
other exotic species whose habitat is under attack from oil
exploration and increasing human population
John Seed Advised Grants
- to protect forests and their indigenous inhabitants,
is administered by EarthWays personnel.
Touch the Jungle in Ecuador
- is a research facility, proceeds from which encourage
preservation by the local village, Playa de Oro, of the exotic
Ecuadorian jungle and wildcat species of their region. Rosa
Jordan is the project director.
S.E.E.
- the Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs, continues
to be a sister organization to EarthWays, sharing our offices
and expertise while providing financial consulting and facilitation
to many small non-profit projects.
WildRescue - is committed
to developing and instituting programs that promote optimum
care of sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife, and employ sound,
ethical solutions to conflicts between humans and neighboring
wild animals. Locally, from its base of operations in the
Santa Monica Mountains above Malibu, California, WildRescue
provides surrounding communities with a 24-hour wildlife hotline
and ancillary paramedic service for wild animals.
