What
is Conscious Activism?
Conscious Activism is engagement in the world that expresses
and reveals our most profound understanding of the nature
of reality.
Simply be
an expression
of the beauty of being.
Conscious activism is an exploration of the nature of reality
and, consequently, the nature of consciousness. My personal
truth is relative to my level of understanding of the nature
of reality. As I deepen this understanding my connection to
truth deeps concurrently. Conscious activism acknowledges
the sadness of suffering in the world and feels compassion
for others. The motivation for conscious activism is respect,
appreciation and gratitude, not monetary compensation, influence
or personal recognition. In this exploration of life my intention
is to open to the joy of the beauty of the gift of life, feel
the pain of the world, explore the furthest depths of consciousness
and act from all that I have found.
We are crying for a vision
that all living things can share.
Kate Wolfe, songwriter
Our truth is relative to our most profound understanding of
the nature of reality. To understand the nature of reality
we must explore the nature of consciousness. It's not possible
to explore the nature of consciousness without investigating
for oneself the source of creation itself. This adventure
asks us to learn more about our connection to spirit. Our
subsequent actions will express the results of the exploration
and demonstrate the potential beauty that resides in each
of our hearts.
The nature of reality is embodied in the living essence of
Christ Consciousness, Taoist interrelationship, Buddha nature,
Tara-- the Tibetan goddess of compassion-- and many similar,
archetypal energies. Spirit needs room to live, and breathe
and celebrate compassionate action. It often atrophies when
codified into religion. Actions that are imbued with profound
qualities of the nature of reality are those actions that
are in harmony with Nature's community of all life. To be
a conscious activist is to live ones life as a prayer.
Let the beauty we love be what we do.
There are a hundred ways to kneel and kiss the Earth
Rumi, thirteenth century Sufi poet
Reverence
and Appreciation
When we feel reverence for the remarkable beauty of the diverse
life forms on this magical living planet, we provide others
with an example that will expand their sense of delight. Reverence
is a form of Gratitude, just as gratitude is a form of reverence.
Appreciation is a form of gratitude and visa versa. We are
surrounded by millions of wondrous forms of living beings.
When I touch reverence and appreciation it renews my connection
with Earth, with Human Beings and with all Beings. Appreciation
and gratitude are contagious. They inspire us. Their enthusiasm
arcs like a current between fellow human beings and can change
the world, increment by loving increment.
Reverence is an attitude that encourages emotions associated
with heart and intuition. Recognizing beauty and sharing beauty
is a gift. This generosity of spirit supports open heartedness
and, in turn, encourages compassionate connection and social
programs that care for the Earth and all people. Only when
we numb our senses, our sensuality, and our intuition are
we able to destroy the Earth's delicate web of beauty: the
wetlands, the towering forests and their many curious creatures.
We are partners with the trees. They give us fruit and oxygen.
We give them carbon dioxide. We eat from the tree and breathe
from the tree. How long can we go without food, maybe two
months? How long will we last without water, maybe a week?
And without air we will start to die in about three minutes.
The tree gives us our breath, and our breath is our life and
our spirit. We are in continuous reciprocal interaction with
the tree.
